Minutes of the Chouteau Grotto Meeting July 11, 2001



This months meeting was held on the second Wednesday

of July to avoid the July 4th holiday.

The meeting was called to order by Bob Lerch at 7:15

pm.  There were 17 people present.  Treasurer's

report: there are $1203.06 in the coffers.  Due to the

absence of the secratary an impromptue reading of last

meeting minutes were given by Bob Lerch.  There was a

decision to have a going away party for Patti on

7/25/01 at 8:00 at G&D's.  There was a call for

volunteers for a replacement for Patti to take over

the Foresight and Newsletter.  No old buisness was

discussed.  New Buisness, the MDC MCKC Bioinventory

project is looking for serious volunteers.  Anyone

interested needs to contact Lawrence Ireland.  A

manditory weekend class on cave fauna must be attended

to guarantee quality data collection.  Jerry Connley

with the DNR is involved with the Southern Boone

county Karst Committee to prevent further water

quality degradation of area streams to include but not

limited to Bon Femme, little Bon Femme, Turkey and

Bass creek, basically the Bon Femme water shed.  They

will make recommendations for land use to planning and

development.  The chicken roast it planned for

10/13/01.  The scout area has been reserved and there

may be a sign-up sheet next meeting for task

assignment.  There is a $1 overnite camping fee.  If

you spend the nite please be responsible and pay

before you leave.  It was decided if Bill Elliott

wants goat meat he will have to bring his own.  Trip

reports, David Webster went caving in Crystal caverns,

Joe Dom visited Mamoth cave during his participation

in the Karst Geology workshop thru the Center for Cave

and Karst studies.  He went back to floyds lost

passage.  Rita and her friend Cliff went to Lone Hill

Onyx.  Jessie, Rita, Orin, and a Mike O. visitd Dry

cave and Moonshine cave on their Mermeck stream float

trip.  Upcomeing trips:  Patti has organized a Fisher

cave trip for 7/14/01 contact her if you are

interested.  Bob has a Hamilton cave trip planned for

7/14/01 and a Hunters mapping trip at 11:00 on

7/28/01.  Michael Walk is having a rope work class for

his church group on 7/14/01 at capen park.  The mock

rescue in Devils Icebox is 9/15/01.  TAG will be on

10/4 to 10/7.  So far Mike Morgan, Orin Wordin and I

(Jeff Williams) are planning on attending.  Other

buisness: Please submitt any current cave reports to

Patti for the Foresight.  The meeting was adjourned at

8:40 approx.
