Minutes of the Chouteau Grotto Meeting
Wednesday, January 2, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM

11 members were present.

Treasurer: not present

MSS Director's Report: The next meeting is on January 12 in Rolla.

Foresight Editor: not present

Webmaster Report: Mike O'Laughlin is willing to continue this role in the short term but is moving to Washington, Missouri in early January. He need a long-term replacement. Rick Walk says "maybe," depending on whether he gets a new computer (in six months or so). If you are interested in this role, contact Mike for what is involved.

Grotto Annual Report: Rick Walk reports that a server problem kept the electronic form for the report from being sent out properly. It is expected in the next couple of weeks. Rick and Joe Hobbs will work the report together. Bob Lerch has a membership directory in electronic form, and at December's meeting said he will work up that portion of the report.

Upcoming events:

Winter Campout: 18-20 January. The campsite will be at an old sawmill near Eminence. Contact Rita, or Jessie Bebb (starfish_vixen@hotmail.com) for information. Four people are going for sure (Joe Dom, Rita, Jessie and Mike), but more are wanted!

Hunter's Mapping: There will be a trip on 13 January. Contact Bob Lerch for details.

Green Cave vertical caving: There is interest in having a trip before March, perhaps with Jim Yancey or Tom Ratterman (who are certified in vertical) assisting.

MVOR will be the weekend of 18 May in Decauterville, Missouri (Dave Webster reports).

Trip reports:

Mike Walk was on Bob Lerch's and Ben  Miller's trip to find the Green Carpet Room in the Cave of the Bells, Arizona.

Rita Worden, Nick and Orin tried to go to Doss Cave and Bruce Cave. Bruce Cave owners don't want anybody in the cave. They looked for Tater Hollow Cave, but landowners were not around.

Jennifer Wolff was in town over the holidays with her fiancÈ, Tim.  They went to Lone Hill Onyx Cave.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM. There was no program.

Respectfully submitted,

Joe Hobbs, Secretary
